I am a fan of British films. I saw In The Loop earlier this year, and The Trip is one of my favorite comedies. Going into Philomena, I had pretty high expectations, and they were completely met and exceeded. This is a film filled with heart, comedy, and drama. It is one of my absolute favorite films of the year, and I could not find anything wrong with it. I thought it was the perfect length, the acting was superb, and the story was engaging. Judi Dench and Steve Coogan star in this film, and they are both excellent. They have great chemistry, and really bring their characters to life. They both perfectly balanced the comedy and seriousness of the film. The plot had me hooked after just a couple of minutes. I felt like I was a part of their journey, and every bit of it satisfied. The film kept toying with my emotions. At one moment I would be laughing, and the next I would stare into the screen completely heartbroken. There were not many people in the theater, which makes me disappointed. This is a film that is worth watching. It educates you, entertains you, makes you laugh, makes you cry, and most importantly it leaves you content. From beginning to end, this film held my attention, and I only hope that others share my admiration for this film.
