Non-Stop Review

I have been a fan of Liam Neeson long before he began doing all these action films. I really enjoyed Taken, but thought his other actions films were a bit lackluster. Non-Stop definitely benefits from Liam Neeson’s inclusion, but he does not save the movie. First of all, the premise is engaging. It’s basically a “who did it” in an airplane. It kept me guessing, but I figured it out a bit too quickly. The explanation for why the person is doing what they are doing is also a bit disappointing. I understand it is an action film, but I do not think that is a good reason for the shortcomings of the film. The supporting characters also fell flat. They were generic and ultimately uninteresting. Predictably, Liam Neeson does a great job. His character is the most complex, and the most interesting. He is definitely a bright spot in the film. The action is fine, but the camera shakes a bit too much during the sequences. I also found the ending to be a bit too neat. I think the film could have taken a darker route, but it ended in a very abrupt and cliché fashion. Overall, Non-Stop was a fun ride with Liam Neeson at the helm. While it has many shortcomings, I had an enjoyable time.
