This is the list of my own most anticipated movies of 2014. I will probably review these movies, so it’ll be interesting to see how my anticipation and review compare. I’ll start with #10 and work backwards.
10. Edge of Tomorrow
The trailer for this film surprised me. It looks really cool. I don’t know how well it will do as far as story, but it looks like a fun time at the movies. I love movies that have time travel included in them. Hopefully, this film will have a clever reason for Tom Cruise repeating the same day over and over.
9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
I really enjoyed the first Captain America film, but it was not one of my favorites from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Personally, I was never a huge fan of Captain America, but the film ignited my interest in him. I hope this film is even better than the first.
8. Her
Technically this is a film that released in 2013, but only in limited release. I love Joaquin Phoenix, and the trailer was so good. I think the story looks so original, and the cinematography of the film looks pretty good too. This is the most “artsy” film on this list.
7. Godzilla
I was never a big Godzilla person. I was not into the old films, and hated the 2000 film. The trailer for this film sent shivers down my spine. It looks absolutely terrifying, and I cannot wait to see how the film turns out.
6. Interstellar
Christopher Nolan is directing this film. That is all that needed to be said. I know the film deals with wormholes and time travel, which I am a big fan of. The cast looks fantastic, the teaser really teased me, and I am very much looking forward to its release.
5. Guardians of the Galaxy
A This is the only film that does not have a trailer released (officially). I only know what I have read and seen (a couple of pictures). It is superheroes in space, and I think that sounds awesome. I can’t wait to see a trailer and give my thoughts on that.
4. X-men: Days of Future Past
The X-men franchise has been doing very well in recent years. With two missteps (X-men 3 and Origins) it has returned to form with First Class and Wolverine. I hope Bryan Singer can make yet another excellent addition to the X-men franchise.
3. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
I really enjoyed the first film. I was in awe when I saw Andy Serkis’s performance. He really sold himself as an ape, but he also made me care for his character (Caesar). I thought the trailer really did a good job to show the tone of the next installment without giving away too many details. Bring it on!
2. The Hobbit: There and Back Again
As I mentioned in my review for the second Hobbit installment, I LOVE THE LORD OF THE RINGS FRANCHISE. I really enjoyed the first two Hobbit films, and I am excited to see how the next one plays out. December cannot come quickly enough.
1. The Amazing Spiderman 2
When I was younger, there was only one superhero I wanted to be. I still want to be him. Spider-man is a personal favorite of mine, and I cannot wait to see the sequel to 2012’s The Amazing Spiderman. I loved that film, and saw it about 5 times in the theater. I have high hopes for the sequel.
That was my list. What is you list? Feel free to disagree, but I would also like to know your opinion.
